The region is famous for its
beef cattle, sheep, goats cheese, Pineau de Charentes aperitif, apples
which have grown in this area since the Middle Ages and the Poitou marshes
also known as the Venice Vert (Green
Venice).
The summers are long and hot
and the winters short and mild, similar to Southern France.
