Here you will find peace and quiet to relax, unwind and find time to enjoy your favourite pastimes, walking, cycling, fishing in the nearby lake or just relaxing by the pool reading a favourite book.

The quiet country lanes are perfect for either walking or cycling as there is very little traffic to worry about and whilst enjoying your pursuits, you may well come across a friendly bar or restaurant for a cool drink or perhaps an enjoyable lunch.

Les Hirondelles: is part of the owners house, but is completely self-contained with its own entrance and car parking space, small garden and terrace with patio table and chairs and gas barbeque.

The Farmhouse Gite:
The house has been very well renovated by the English owners and is fully equipped to a high standard.
The accommodation comprises of one double bedroom, one twin bedroom and a bathroom on the first floor, on the ground floor there is a large lounge with original open fireplace and exposed beams, the lounge has two sofas, one of which can be converted to accommodate a further two people.
The exposed beams are also a feature in the kitchen/dining room and on the ground floor there is a second modern well appointed fully tiled bathroom complete with walk in shower, toilet, bidet and wash basin.

The modern fitted kitchen is fully equipped with a gas cooker, microwave oven, dishwasher and fridge freezer, the double doors from the kitchen/dining room open directly onto the outside terrace which has its own dining area complete with gas barbeque.

Outside
In the well maintained grounds there is a 10m x 5m swimming pool with roman steps at one side (for easy access), underwater lighting, terrace and sun loungers.

The pool area is bordered by attractive flower beds and displays of floral and perfumed shrubs.

There are no other properties on the site, therefore, the pool is shared only with the owners.

Location
Allemans du Dropt:- is our local village and here in the pretty village square with its ancient plum market can be found the family run Hotel L’Etape Gasconne, here you can enjoy excellent food and local wines at lunchtime or during the evening at very reasonable prices. In the village there is also a bakers, post office, pharmacy, small supermarket, tabac, craft shop and tourist information office.

In the area there are also many good restaurants ranging from local good food to haute cuisine.

Miramont:- with a good range of shops is just 8 kilometres away, and has a lively market on Mondays which is well worth a visit and there is a major supermarket on the outskirts of the town although you can buy your morning croissants at Allemans just a short 2 kilometres bike ride away.

Marmande:- just twenty minutes by car in the other direction, is the large local town, it has a very interesting market on Saturdays and others during the week, the town has two cinemas, a museum and many good quality shops and restaurants and mainline railway station.

Activities
From Les Hirondelles you can visit the many chateaux and bastides of the western Dordogne region, the vineyards of Bergerac, Duras and St.Emilion and the many attractions of the central Dordogne, Sarlat, Lascaux and Domme all of which are under a two hour drive.

Gastronomy
For pure "value", restaurants here are difficult to beat. Cooking is usually simple, fresh and delicious. Many menus include local produce such as duck, goose, plums cepes and of course foie gras. At the top end of the scale, internationally acclaimed restaurants will test the appetite of anyone, whilst for those who wish to enjoy good and affordable meals, there is an excellent choice of family restaurants and auberges of character that will be well within the budget. For wine, a look at the map of the region will reveal a wide choice of wonderful, famous names and wine regions. North is Bergerac, St Emillion and Cote de Duras, South is Buzet and East is the Cahors region and the dark red wine known as "Cahors Noir".

Weather and Landscape
Normally the area has a moderate climate with long Spring and Autumn seasons and Summers that can be very hot! Essentially it is the heart of farming land and you can expect to see lush landscapes with spectacular fields of sunflowers, maize and tobacco and all through the year a wonderful variety of changing colours and hues. This superb variety of seasonal changes provides an ideal holiday location. Geographically predominant the Lot, Garonne and Dordogne rivers are major landmarks and around these you can explore an enchanting, little known countryside of undulating hills with breathtaking and inspirational views. Dotted with small hilltop villages built in the lovely white stone of the Quercy, a simple drive or cycle ride will bring endless pleasures.
