Canda House is a small family run Bed and Breakfast with 3 bedrooms.

Situated in the Mayenne region of the Pays de la Loire, the ferry ports of Caen, St-Malo, Cherbourg and Calais are just 2, 1.5, 2.5 and 5 hours drive respectively.

Just over the border from both Brittany and Normandy it is an ideal location for touring and days out.

Local shops, supermarkets and all facilities can be found just 5 minutes drive into the main town of Ernee.

Since coming to France in August 2004, we have completely renovated our house whilst retaining the character of the property along with several original features.

We have 3 Bed and Breakfast rooms, all comfortably furnished with en suite facilities (2 with shower, 1 without).

Continental breakfast (hot drink, fruit juice, croissants, fresh bread, jams, cereal if preferred) is served in the family dining room. Packed lunches can be ordered if required.

We have a small garden to the side of the property which you are welcome to share with us during the evenings.

If you are considering moving to France we can also offer advice on the joys and pitfalls based on our own experiences.

In the future we also intend to open 2 holiday gites (apartments).

We operate a no smoking policy in the house and are unable to take pets as we have a dog of our own.

Ernee is a typical historic French market town as yet undiscovered by the English tourists (we are the only English family living here) with a population of about 6000.

Just over the border from Brittany, we are only about an hours drive from the beautiful beaches of the Emerald Coast, and also an ideal stopover point for travellers to the West coast or southern France.

There is an abundance of places of interest within easy driving distance such as Mont-St-Michel, Pontmain, museums, zoos and adventure parks. In the immediate area there are plenty of lakes for the fisherman, off road walks, gardens (the French are very proud of their “fleurie” towns and villages) and of course the international motocross track (less than 1km away).

You can also visit local farms and sample the local ciders, dairy products and meats (including the goat farm which produces various items of clothing and rugs made from their wool).

Bedroom 1 - Double bed with private washbasin and wc from €40 per night

Bedrooms 2 & 3 - Double bed with en suite shower, washbasin and wc from €45 per night (a single fold down bed is available if required at €10 per night)

All prices include continental breakfast

Travel cot available at €5 per night

Packed lunch €8 per person (to be ordered the night before)

For bookings of 5 nights or more a 20% deposit is required.
