La Bergerie is 11/2 miles from the village of Cuon with its local services (bar-tabac-restaurant, Post Office, shop and garage), 6 miles from the attractive market towns of Baugé and Beaufort-en-Vallée, and 30 minutes' drive from the major centres of Saumur, Angers and La Flèche.

There is a first class 18 hole golf course near Baugé, and the countryside is ideal for walking, cycling and birdwatching. There is safe swimming at a number of 'plans d'eau' nearby.

The area is renowned for its many chateaux and vineyards, notably the Saumur 'Methode Traditionelle' and Champigny Houses.

All the local towns and many of the villages have excellent and reasonably priced restaurants.
