The farmhouse stands above the lake commanding marvellous views over the water to undulating farmland and to Montcuq with its pretty houses clustered about a little hill crowned with a magnificent medieval donjon tower.

Lac de Lapeze is the ideal spot for those looking for peace and quiet, and yet it's only a picturesque, 10-minute walk from the town. This charming gite has been skilfully renovated yet it retains all its original character.

It provides really spacious accommodation --- triple doors from the entrance open into a delightful sitting room with a beamed ceiling and a wide, stone fireplace with a wood-burning stove which radiates lots of heat for those Winter breaks. You will also find Satellite TV and a comprehensive video film library. This attractive room enjoys lovely views over the lake to fields and tree-clad hillsides beyond.

The professionally-fitted kitchen and dining area, which also boasts eye-catching views of the lake and neighbouring orchards, has a cooker with a gas hob and electric oven, pine units, a microwave oven, refrigerator, washing-machine and paperwork. This bright, airy room again has beams together with attractive natural stone walls.

Another interesting feature of the gite is the spacious double bedroom with its lofty beamed and timbered ceiling and former bread oven. Here again superb views are enjoyed from the bedroom area. The room has an en suite fully tiled shower room with vanity unit and WC. A double wardrobe and drawers afford ample shelving and hanging space.

Linen is provided within the rental terms.

Outside there is tiled pathway around to the private covered rear terrace and barbecue area with lighting and power point. There are superb views over the adjoining farmland towards the town and lovely countryside beyond.

Covered car parking is included.

The town of Montcuq is ideally placed for those wishing to explore the Lot Valley - the heart of the ancient city of Cahors (23 kms), the principal town serving the area, is enfolded in a meander of the river.

Montcuq is famous for its 13th century tower and dungeon and is a charming small town which offers numerous facilities including: four cafe/restaurants, banks, local shops and two supermarkets.

The town also hosts a popular Sunday morning market.

Montcuq is within easy driving distance of the Causses du Quercy, the regional national park; here one can visit Rocamadour, St Cirq Lapopie, the lovely Cele Valley and the paleolithic paintings of Pech Merle.

Local amenities include: swimming pool (July & August) tennis courts, horse riding and trekking and country walks (Montcuq is astride the pilgrim way to Santiago de Compostela).
