Quimper
- a town full of flowers, is the capital of Cornouaille, and is on the
banks of the River Odet, main river in the Glazik area, 15 km from the
coast.
Quimper has a wealth of famous
monuments, a cathedral and old quarters well worth visiting: Breton Museum.
Fine Arts Museum. Contemporary Arts Center "Le Quartier". Earthenware
Factories. The Jules Verlingue Earthenware Museum. The bishop's palace
garden and theatre garden. Locamaria Norman church. Nearby : Kerfeunteun,
chapels of Ty Mam Doué, Kerdévot, the Stangala, The River Steir valley.
Local Events "Festival de Cornouaille"
(4th Sunday in July and throughout the previous week). Musical Weeks (1st
three weeks in August). Brass instrument courses (end of August). Folklore
evenings (every Thursday from end of June to beginning of September).
The Odet River Lugger (on the Locamaria Allées quayside). River and sea
