Lou Cadou is a charming French villa located in the gorgeous south
of France, only minutes from the historic city of Nimes and the beautiful
Mediterranean coast.
We spent a lot of time making the house feel like home while keeping an authentic French villa flavour. In addition, we included all the modern conveniences, which, alas, many French homes do not have.
The house was built in 1970. It is in a gated garden with a 8.5m x 4m outdoor swimming pool at the side. It also has a nice outside barbeque - perfect for taking advantage of the superb weather of Provence.
There are three bedrooms upstairs, two with queen beds and one with two singles.
Downstairs there is a spacious lounge with open fireplace for burning wood, a separate study room with a futon that can be used for extra accommodation if desired and a fully fitted, brand new (2003) modern kitchen.
There are French windows from the lounge to the patio where there is an outdoor table. If you prefer to eat outside instead of the downstairs dining area - no problem!
The villa also includes a washing and drying machine and a one-car garage.
Calvisson...
Lou Cadou is situated on a hillside road above the charming village of
Calvisson. Calvisson is a village of approximately 4,000 people and forms
one of the villages of the "vaunages", a collection of hamlets
and small towns extending west of Nimes into the surrounding wine countryside.
Calvisson has three restaurants
and is close to most sporting amenities (tennis courts, golf, lake sailing,
etc). In addition, there are several wine tasting vineyards within a few
minutes drive. You can even relax with a luxurious French massage in the
village!
Nimes - about a 15 minute drive away...
Nimes is an ancient Roman town as has some splendid ruins that can be
visited. It's a lively town of about 130,000 people. It has great shopping
and restaurants, leafy town squares, and an almost continual string of
cultural events.
Montpellier
- about a 30 minute drive away...
Montpellier is a picturesque Mediterranean coastal town, home of one of
France famous soccer teams and seat of a large university making it a
youthful and nightlife-type of place. The university was actually founded
in the 13th century - Nostradamus qualified as a doctor there!
The city has plenty of wide, tree-flanked promenades, broad avenues and
historic monuments all over. The centre of activity and eating in particular
is the large and spectacular square know as "l'oeuf" (the egg
- because of its shape).
If you visit make sure to go on one of the many guided wine tasting tours
for which Montpellier is justifiably famous.
