Beautiful views of the Dordogne valley and surrounding area
Quiet location

Maison Portail Bleu is a typically Correzian cottage built in 1700, it has been restored to its full character, with oak beams, Inglenook Fireplace and many original features. Situated in a tiny hamlet of 4 farm houses, the cottage has beautiful views of the Dordogne valley and surrounding area. Peace and tranquility are the key words; wander off for secluded forest walks, visit the ancient town of Argentat, fish in the river Dordogne, Canoe, cycle, follow ancient trails, or just chill out on the patio or lawn with drinks and let the world go by.
The area is soaked in history, the local village church has links with Richard the Lionheart, Rocamadour caves are close by and numerous other tourist attractions are all within driving distance - even the Limoges pottery factories are only an hour away (always worth a visit).
Portail Bleu offers 2 double rooms for B&B, one with double bed, WC and bathroom, the other has 2 single beds, WC and shower room, both decorated to a high standard. Continental breakfast is included in the price of the rooms, which are priced as per room, not per person.
Though several restaurants
are close by, if you don't wish to try the local food, the owners, Jan
and Doug Lumley also offer a high quality 4 course evening meal, aperitifs
and coffee are also included in the price. Doug grows his own vegetables
for the table so all produce is freshly picked when in season.
Doug and Jan feel it is essential to offer B&B in the true tradition
of French Chambre de Hote', therefore they ask you to share their home
with them and enjoy the pleasures of country living.
Maison Portail Bleu has no swimming pool, but the nearest pool is 'Le Splash' which is 8 Kms away in Argentat, where for a couple of Euros you can sit in the sun, ride the Flume or just swim all day.
Doug and Jan offer for a charge, an airport collection service from local airports, which is good for the holiday maker who does not want the hassle of driving in France.
Not only is the Correze
worth a visit on its own (Maison Portail Bleu in particular) but it is
also a handy stopping off point for those who wish an overnight stay on
their travels south to Spain or Southern France.
Prices are: 35 Euros per room per night, Evening meal is 18 Euros per person per night.
