Deep in the heart of the French countryside, in the Auvergne region, the very centre of France, this newly converted detached one bedroom gite with original oak beams offers the perfect place to get away from it all.

Situated close to the English owners' home, this is the ideal place to relax and unwind in the peace and quiet of the unspoilt French countryside.

Spacious entrance hall which leads to:

The large comfortable sitting room with dining area and log burning fire. Double doors open on to the south west facing private patio/garden with barbeque and picnic table.

A fully equipped kitchen with full size hob and oven, washing machine, fridge and microwave oven.

The light and airy bedroom with original low oak beams and an antique wrought iron double bed.

En-suite bathroom fitted with a shower and antique hip bath, hand basin and toilet.

Affectionately known as The Baby House, this gite is a delightful haven for anyone wishing to relax and enjoy all that the French countryside has to offer.

There are bicycles available for use free of charge and, for anyone who enjoys fishing, the owners have a small lake 15 minutes away by car which is available to anyone who wishes to use it, again free of charge.

As you would expect in France there are several excellent restaurants close by, as well as a local vineyard, all of which come highly recommended.

For racing enthusiasts there is a circuit in the village where a variety of motorcycles and cars are tested from time to time.

With the towns of Moulins and Nevers each only 40 minutes away, this area offers an excellent opportunity to explore a region of France full of wonderful architecture, culture and history. Bourges, a beautiful cathedral city which, during the summer months, is illuminated at night, is just 55 minutes to the north west.

The famous vineyards of Sancerre are only 1.5 hours away as is the elegant spa town of Vichy.

The Foret de Troncais, one of the oldest oak forests in Europe, is 25 minutes away and is a walker’s paradise. It has a large lake where it is possible to fish and swim in a totally natural environment.

Etang de Goule, another large lake, approximately 30 minutes away, is slightly more commercialised but does offer water sport facilities.

For the golfers there are three superb courses within a 40 minute drive. The owner of this gite, Steve, himself a keen golfer, has created a small driving range within the grounds which is available for anyone wishing to practise their swing!

Travel Options

By Car - The gite is approximately 5.5 hours drive from Calais by motorway. Detailed directions can be provided to ease your journey.

By Air - There are direct flights from the UK to Paris (Charles de Gaulle), Limoges, Tours and Lyon, all of which are approximately a 3 hour drive. Again, detailed directions are available from each city.

By Train – There are excellent connections with the Eurostar from Waterloo or Ashford to Nevers. Journey time from Paris (Gare de Lyon) to Nevers is 2 hours. Car hire is available at Nevers station with various well known companies.
