In this comparatively unspoilt corner of France we now have three holiday homes to let.
The Cottage (Gite) of our Mas (farmhouse) with or without the Poolhouse annexe sleeps 2 - 6
The Old Village House two minutes from the beach in Banyuls sur Mer sleeps 6 adults and 2 children
The house has 4 bedrooms, one bath / shower room, one shower room, fully equipped kitchen and utility room (including washing machine and dishwasher), spacious lounge and large dining room all decorated in traditional style with exposed beams.
The gardens of about 1 acre are very secluded being walled by maize fields in the summer and with spectacular views of the Pyrenees after harvesting.
There is a 7.5 x 3.5 metre above ground pool for your sole use.
Facilities include: Log fire, TV, Dish washer, Cooker, Fridge and Washing machine.
There are 3 double beds, 2 single beds, 1 bathroom, 1 shower room, 2 WCs, 1 sofabeds, 2 cots.
There is dining seating for 6 guests, lounge seating for 6 guests and a sleeping accommodation for a maximum of 10 guests.
Linen is provided.
Also: highchair, barbeque, table tennis table, golf net.
Mas d'en Grau is a traditional Catalan farmhouse set in the Aspres hills above the valley of the river Tet. The Cottage (Gite) sleeps 2 - 4 and consists of a double bedroom, bathroom, a living room with sofa bed and american kitchen and a sunny terrace for outdoor eating. It has a wood burning stove for winter. It backs onto, but is is independent from, the owner's house.
The pool house may be
rented as an annexe sleeping a further two people. The heated 14 x 7
metre swimming pool and adjoining barbeque area are available to guests
during their stay. The extensive grounds have wonderful views over the
Tet valley and far beyond. Even Chateau de Queribus is just visible
on a clear day as is the nose of Mount Canigou.
It is a wonderfully peaceful base from which to explore a fascinating
corner of France. Walking in the foothills of the Pyrenees, discovering
Cathar Castles on the ancient border of Aragon, swimming in the Mediterranean
at Collioure, popping down to Spain for the day; all are within an easy
hour's drive. The countryside is scattered with small fortified villages,
Romanesque chapels and hermitages top the hills, the valleys are full
of peach orchards and the mountain slopes covered with vineyards.
Perpignan is about half an hour away with good rail and air connections to Paris, London and Barcelona.
The Poolhouse, which can be rented as an annexe to the gite but never alone, consists of a light and airy studio bedroom, small kitchenette and a bathroom. It is ideal for a couple of friends or a couple of older children. The views are superb and, of course, the pool could not be closer.
