Andy, Margaret and Jamie Sutherland would like to welcome you to our beautiful holiday complex; La Rose de l’Isle. Open all year round, La Rose offers fantastic Gite holidays in the wonderful and sunny climate of the Dordogne. In the low and mid seasons we are also open for B&B.
La Rose is ideally placed in the West of the Dordogne with Sarlat an hour away and a mere hour and a half drive to the Atlantic beaches. The Dordogne has been described as “The country of a thousand castles” and with pre-historic caves, lake beaches and river sport all within striking distance La Rose is the ideal place to base your French holiday.
La Rose de l’Isle is situated in a tranquil setting in the beautiful White Périgord region, (Périgord Blanc) which is noted for it’s foie gras, walnuts and wine. The former Dordogne farmhouse has wonderful views over the Isle valley to the hills beyond and is backed by a large forest.
There is a large heated pool with a heated shower and toilet facilities, as well as a pool bar. Each gite has a fully equipped kitchen and dining area, as well as al fresco dining and BBQ facilities. The fully equipped gites all have private bath/shower rooms, satellite television and DVD players. We have a large collection of DVD’s and books for use by the guests. At La Rose de l’Isle we want your stay with us to be as comfortable and enjoyable as possible, and attention to detail is important to us. The beds are made using freshly laundered cotton sheets, and fresh towels in the bathrooms. These are all included in the cost of the gite. Fresh home grown produce is available to buy from our fruit and vegetable gardens, as well as fresh eggs from our free range hens.
We are a very child friendly place and want to make their stay fun, so we provide lots of fun things to do in our children’s play area, such as toys, painting, sand pits etc. For the older ones we have a boules pitch, pool table and table tennis. Bikes are available for guests to use.
The four Gites are available individually or can be booked as a single booking. Whilst the Gites are only booked on a per week basis during June, July and August we will be happy to discuss special rates for part weeks or short breaks at any other time of the year. Our heated pool is open from April to October making mid season breaks a cost effective reality.

La rose de l’Isle is situated in
the West of the Dordogne alongside the valley of the River Isle in what
is known as the ‘’Périgord Blanc’’.
The White Périgord covers the west and central part of the Dordogne,
following the course of the river Isle and the limestone screes, rich
in quarries which produced the white stones for the chef-lieu, or préfecture
town, Périgueux, bang in the centre of the département.
To the west, bordering the Charente, is Ribérac and its area,
the Ribéracois, typified by its beautiful Romanesque churches,
and the vast, mysterious Double forest.
La Rose is situated close to the pretty, bustling little town of Neuvic
sur Isle. In Neuvic there are bakers, butchers, chemists and banks as
well as restaurants and bars and a supermarket. Post and medical services
are also in the town. Neuvic has a local produce market on Tuesday and
Saturday mornings. For those interested in history, the beautiful Renaissance
Chateau Neuvic is open to the public and you can also look around reconstructed
forest dwellings. Needless to say you are in France and particularly
in the Dordogne so history and culture are all around you.
Neuvic also boasts a botanical park with a large collection of trees
and shrubs and all things green.
For the more energetically inclined there are a huge number of hiking
trails and cycle tracks in this lovely area to our and we are also able
to provide cycles for those who have not brought their own. Canoes are
available locally for our guests to hire.
