L’Oratoire is a 17th century farmhouse, newly converted and furnished, situated in the Calvados region of Normandy. It is some 30 minutes driving time from Caen and 3 kms from Aunay-sur-Odon. This is the nearest main town and provides a full range of commercial facilities (market, supermarket, chemists, restaurants, bank etc.)

The main house can accommodate 22 persons in 6 bedrooms and the adjoining but independent gite can accommodate 6 persons in 3 bedrooms. There is a large totally enclosed garden laid out to lawn with fruit trees.

L’Oratoire is the ideal place for a gathering of friends or for several families wishing to holiday together in a peaceful and private environment.

THE MAIN HOUSE

Ground floor:
- sitting room with beautiful fireplace in working order, three comfortable large sofas, TV and CD player, plenty of games and books
- fully fitted and equipped kitchen (fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker, etc). Plenty of cooking utensils and crockery to cater for large parties
- large dining room (2 long tables accommodating 12 each) leading to
- conservatory with garden furniture and barbecue
- small reading room between kitchen and dining room
- linen cupboard housing washing machine and clothes drier
- large bathroom with three shower cubicles and one basin
- 3 toilets with handbasins

First floor:
- 2 bedrooms with 2 bunk beds in each
- 2 bedrooms with 2 bunks beds in each plus a single bed (cot bed available)
- a twin bedded room
- a double bedded room with en-suite shower room and toilet
- 2 toilets with handbasins.

GITE

Ground floor:
- large sitting/dining room, TV and CD player, books and games
- fully fitted and equipped kitchen (fridge, cooker, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, etc);

- washing machine installed in washroom

First floor:
- one doubled bedded room
- one twin bedded room
- one bedroom with bunk beds

L’Oratoire is an ideal central base from which to visit Bayeux, Mont-St-Michel, the D-Day beaches, etc. or go shopping in Caen.

There are many sports and leisure activities in the area, be it golf, tennis, canoing, horse riding or walking. One of the largest European bungy jumping centre is also nearby. There is also in Villers-Bocage, a few kilometres away, a good public swimming pool.

By using the most direct route, Portsmouth to Ouistreham (Caen) by Brittany Ferries, a crossing of some five and a half hours.

You will be met by our representative in France, Melle Brigitte Paillard, who will show you over the house/gite and be your main source of information should you require any assistance. Melle Paillard also comes in several times a week to clean during your stay.

FAMILY LETTINGS: Both the farmhouse and the gite are available for family lettings throughout the year; week-end lettings are also available in the low and medium seasons.

NOTES: Bed linen is provided but not towels. The house and the gite are strictly non smoking. Pets are not allowed. There is a pay telephone in the main house, which will also receive incoming calls.

PAYMENT: To secure the booking, a deposit is required as follows:
- £100 per property security deposit
- 1/3 of rental

The balance of the rental should be paid no less than six weeks before your date of arrival. The security deposit is refundable subject to deduction for any damage and breakages against inventory.

CANCELLATION: Cancellation for any reason results in the forfeit of your security deposit. Cancellation within six weeks of your stay results in the loss of the full rental amount. Cancellation insurance is therefore recommended.
